Protein drinks for youth athletes..

by Coach
(NY)

First of I want to say that I am a big believer of getting all of your nutrition needs from a healthy well balanced diet. I have a few wrestlers 13-17 years old that have been adding a lot of strength training and are competing at a very high level. I am looking for a quality, safe, chemical free protein drink to supplement their diet and aide in recovery. One catch, has to be 100% peanut free as a few of these athletes have severe peanut allergies. Looking for trainers, nutritionist or coaches suggestions..

A GuideTo Eating for Sports
by: Anonymous

The following was taken from Teen Health...

Protein Power
Athletes may need more protein than less-active teens, but most teen athletes get plenty of protein through regular eating. It's a myth that athletes need a huge daily intake of protein to build large, strong muscles. Muscle growth comes from regular training and hard work. And taking in too much protein can actually harm the body, causing dehydration, calcium loss, and even kidney problems.
