Starting your day with a Healthy Breakfast

You have heard it before, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you are looking for some ideas for great healthy breakfasts to get your day off to the right start, you've come to the right place! A nutritious breakfast will fuel your busy day and help you get the most out of your workouts.



When you are choosing items to add to your breakfast menu, try to stay away from sugary or carbohydrate filled foods. These foods can have an impact on your blood sugar and cause you to have crashes later on in the day.

Oatmeal is a wonderful food to have in the morning. If you feel like you would like to sweeten it a bit, try adding sliced up fruit and berries. Honey and cinnamon are also great additions if you are going to be having the traditional oats as opposed to the instant kinds that have become increasingly popular in recent times.

This breakfast is quick and easy to make and filled with fiber. This is a great way for you to start your day!


Try egg whites instead of scrambled eggs. Add other ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, bell peppers or spinach, and skip the bacon and cheese.



If you want to have a nice light breakfast, try making your own fruit salad. This is something that can be prepared ahead of time and kept in an air tight container placed inside of the cold refrigerator. Keep fresh fruit handy for those busy mornings when you are running out the door. The natural sugar will give you energy to get your day started right.

You can include bananas, pineapple, cherries, strawberries, oranges, grapes, or any mixture of them! To make your fruit salad, simply choose your desired fruits, wash them, then slice thin and mix! Viola, you now have your own homemade fruit salad! This is great for a hot summer day. Sounds pretty refreshing, doesn't it?

Yogurt and granola are also great choices when it comes to the first meal of the day. Check the sugar content of the granola before you make your purchase. You want the least amount of sugar that is available in the granola in order to avoid having a spike in your blood sugar after you finish the meal.

For those of you that are going to be grabbing breakfast on the go, consider investing in a few quality protein shakes. You can make your own shakes out of protein powder, or you may opt to purchase the shakes pre-made in cans. Protein shakes taste great and you can add fruit for a little extra zing if you would like!
